I've had several RVs before I bought my own truck and I'll never have one again without a generator.
This past year I bought a truck with a Tri-pac and I would never own a truck without one, I don't care what it cost me to get it there. It's a cost of doing business.
A backup generator on a big vehicle (truck/boat/RV/WHATEVER!) could save your life and help you carry on in comfort whenever you break down, get low on fuel, whatever. As often as OTR trucks break down these days (modern emissions trucks) I can't imagine trusting one for heat/AC and power all the time.
Best new APU for the money?

Have a Comfort Pro,(Carrier), on our truck. Unit has 3300 or so hours and it runs great. It is a bit noisy and expensive to maintain. About $400 for a pm service every thousand hours. That is a lot of money to change oil and filter on a 14 hp Kubota diesel engine! But, I must pay these expensive dealer prices to maintain the warranty which is for 6000 hrs. After that I'll do it myself for probably $50 and 1/2 an hour's work. This unit has worked very well except for control panel stopped working once and a line leaked out all refrigerant once. Both repairs, which were quite expensive, were covered under warranty.
But this unit keeps me from idling!Farmerbob1 and bzinger Thank this. -

The window unit and the bracket fit nicely in my under bed compartment.
The generator box is a standard run of the mill tractor supply tool box that I took a die grinder too and cut the ends of it out.
I also bought the aluminum diamond plate end doors at tractor supply and then cut them to size, drilled them and welded nuts to the back side and bought thumb screw hardware at Lowe’s4rdtruck, Farmerbob1 and spindrift Thank this. -

$1400 for the generator and mini-split and it uses $4-$5 worth of gas per day.
The EPA brought this #### on themselves with DPF/SCR that isn't ready for prime time. -
Farmerbob1 Thanks this.
