Best of the worst ? Stevens or Werner

Werner was not that bad--i been through worse nightmares. They just got to where they didnt wanna give me no miles or give me stuff no one else wanted. I had no real issues with them--although i found it odd that they just gave me a truck without testin me. But whatever--i wasnt complaining. Of course--when i went there--i had experience. The only thing is when they send you in to a terminal to get service--it takes a while. One couple went in to GA for an oil change--they had waited at least 2 days for that. So their shop service needs to improve a bit--but i am sure thats the case in most company's. I cant say much about stevens--for i havent worked for them but i sure love their trucks! Good luck to you whatever you choose to do. If you go with werner--be careful with your logs! Thats the only advice i can give you!

 

I hear shop service is about to take a turn for the extreme worse, someone told me the powers that be figured out how much money they could save by doing as much service in house as possible.

I am interested in becoming a semi-truck driver and I don't have the financial means to pay for a truck driving school. I am willing to give the company the time that they need if it is a good company. Does anyone know of a good ruputable company that will train you and will also allow pets to go with you on the road after your training period.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Check local colleges that teach cdl classes maybe you can qualify for a pell grant. I heard good things about Watkins Shepard in Montana. I don't know where you are located ,but if you have access to free long distance, call or email "only" Joe Sieben at United Truck Driver Training School in Clinton Township Mi NOT Kenny, or anyone at the Detroit school.Joe will answer your questions honestly. I worked in bail bonds so im use to being lied to and know what to look for. THIS MAN KNOWS HIS STUFF AND HE IS HONEST. ask him about tuition reimbursement from truck carriers. Or unsecured loans. Very few people don't give me the red flag and whistles feeling, and he is one. If a carrier tells you different than he says talk to another recruiter at that company, and let them know what he said. If they disagree move on they will want to take 2 cents from each mile from your pay that's not tuition reimbursement they are supposed to pay 50 bucks to your school monthly till its payed off, other than the interest.
