Of all the ones mentioned, Windy hill would be the only one coming close to doing what he's looking for... based in.Marshfield. actually on 10 just outside of town.

    Thanks for all the replies.

In the back of my mind but not smart enough to put it in the original post, perhaps instead of looking end to end I should be looking in more central states that go in both directions (as suggested above - OH, or IN, KY, TN etc).

Roehl and Millis recruiters both said they weren't going to Florida.

    As stated above.

    Right, it's getting the experience...

The Schneider recruiter said the same as Millis and Roehl. These were disappointing responses because I would be willing to go through their corporate training and "do my time"
    ----
I'll check out the other companies mentioned. As some of you have mentioned companies that told me they didn't go where I would like to go, I am thinking of rather than going through the normal 1-800 phone call and going directly to the main offices and speaking directly with a recruiter there.

Your first sentence is exactly what I am trying to do, or try to work the 34 hour resets close to one of the locations. As to your second statement, everyone is different and for me it IS the best reason to get into trucking. After my Dad goes to Dad Heaven then I can "expand my horizons" and do the "normal" go anywhere thing. Unlike some extended families where everyone from the great grand parents to infants live within 100 miles of each other I have relatives in WI, MN, WY, WA, CA, AZ, MS, FL, NC, WV, DC, PA, NY, CT, MA and friends in all those states as well as ME, NH, MD, SD, MO, CO, KY, TN, OH, MI, IL, IA, KS, ID, maybe some more, losing track.

Much appreciated everyone, I will keep you posted on the success of my efforts.

    Chris

Did you check with Windy Hill?
Prime Inc. has a terminal in Lake City,FL.
Jim Palmer Trucking recruits in Florida and may have something you want.
Abilene Motor Express lets drivers take home time anywhere they want to. They hire all over Florida and probably all over Wisconsin.

Problem with Florida is its extremely easy to get into and extremely hard to get out of. Florida produced almost nothing. I think one poster said it best, you can't bottle up sunshine and put it in a truck.

Also the prime terminal in FL is not a terminal,it's a drop yard that is someone's house.

I work for them right now, we mostly do paper, mail and miscelaneous. Flowers, trees and plants the bulk of those loads are late march through early may. We have no problems getting in or out of Florida because of the contracts we have.

If windy hill doesn’t work out i would second paper transport. They are based near you and have a lot of dedicated accounts, including the georgia pacific account. I know there are georgia pacific locations in florida but not sure if they go all the way down there.
