Clueless foreigner's, steering wheel holders, and mega fleeters overran the industry. Don't even get me started on big brother shoving the elog up our arse.

 

Best advice you'll get here: Start your day early and end it early. Make it your goal to be parked no later than 5 PM. Use Trucker Path to scope out your stop for the night. EVERY SINGLE DAY I knew where I was going to park that night when I got up in the morning. Things change and just roll with it. When your live load is taking a lot longer than it should have, use that time to scope out another spot.

I did take that advice to heart...was great to have this board as a resource in the early days. Trip planning is what keeps you on your toes in this business I think.

Reefer is especially interesting because the schedule can flip flop at pretty much any time. The switch to night can be tough at first but what kinda makes up for it is not having to worry about traffic going through cities and easy parking after the sun comes up. Also wide open fuel lanes in the wee hours = easy 30 min break.

 

Yep, and after that 3 AM live unload, there's all kinds of parking at 0530.

 

The Denver/Commerce City Sapp Bros has been there for many a year. Wasn't a bad place last I checked.

 

When I worked at Crete, who has their yard in Wilmer, they expressly forbid drivers to park there.

They have one in Denver. Just up the road from the TA off 270. Been there for years, before the TA was built.

 

Last time I was there was in 2017. Not too bad. I remember that place from the mid 90's. Much better then. Food was not too bad. Never any trouble there. Good place to park. Then they built the TA down the road. That place always a dump.
