I plan on starving as long as I'm forced to live in PA. I'll be happy to just exist here until my kids turn 18.

All my friends In North Dakota are there for one reason only- to get out of debt and to pay off their mortgage so they can retire comfortably. My house was within 2 years of being paid off, but I traded the house for custody of my kids, so I'm starting life over from scratch, and the only way to make 5 years of income for working a single year was oilfield work. I'm only 47 and my daughter turns 18 in 10 years so I have plenty of time left to accumulate 45 years worth of savings and pay off another house.. It just sucks I have to work into my 60 ' s as I wasn't planning on that.

Frankly, I'm already tired of hearing about your kids, oilfield, income retirement and PA is doom and gloom or I'd help you with the ABF numbers in PA.

Stay where your at. It pays more. They really do.

If that was true all of our drivers wouldn't be quitting and going to work over at ABF

And the reason I went into such great detail is because the other guy was scratching his head unable to understand why so many people enjoy working 100 hours a week in the oil fields of north dakota. Different strokes for different folks.
Not to mention my closest family lives three thousand miles west of here I have no family or any reason to be in Pennsylvania if it wasn't for my kids, and most of you guys were probably born and raised here and probably have many reasons to like being here such as family members living close by which is something I don't have the luxury of while I'm living here

The only way I would Drive to Scranton to work is if I went to work for UPS otherwise it wouldn't be worth the extra mileage

I worked at Conway in Wilkes barre. Good company but you're going to run to Milton the majority of the time which is 76 miles each way and work their dock for 5-7 hrs if they don't have "vias" to another terminal like Hagerstown or Syracuse which doesn't happen a lot. The senior guys go to Hagerstown and Carlstadt, NJ. They call you eveynight to tell you what time to come in which is inconvenient but it's usually between 7-10pm and work usually until 6-9am. What really sucks is when they tell you to stay home in the winter then call you in for a city p&d run which screws you out of a Linehaul run for the rest of the week. Not terrible if you don't mind not driving a lot or irregular schedules. It is Mon-Fri though. I would go back if it was more stable year round for Linehaul.

Baranko brothers out of Dickinson,nd is hiring. They're a road construction company & they have work that's actually going to last thru the winter some how. I've got 2 friends I use to work with on a drilling crew that got on with them. After 30 days they were up to $28 hour & getting 70-80 hours a week. Just an idea if you're interested in going back.
