If you want a "dumb phone", check out the Casio Brigade. Yep, it is relatively old and as such, you can find them inexpensive on various websites. Tough as nails, water-resistant (doesn't mind getting wet when caught in the rain). QWERTY keyboard so texting or entering contact information, etc is easy.

If it is a "smart phone" you are looking for, I second what someone else mentioned....Casio Commando. Tough, water-resistant android platform. The only thing I don't like about the Commando, is it's touch screen only. I prefer a physical keyboard.

weather its motorola or not Look into the "otter" brand cases that come with a shield that protects the front screen. Ive seen live demonstration when the sales person tossed his samsung over 8 feet in the air landing on concrete and there was not a scratch or damage to the phone.

Thanks for the input everyone. In the end I got the Samsung Galaxy S III. Big screen, awsome droid platform, and overall much better than the Razr except for battery life (not a big deal). Also got in on $50 instant gift card at Best Buy to sweeten the deal, and got the insurance with unlimited replacements.

Lucky salesperson. I've had to replace three phones for busted up screens, ask while using the otter box cases. But yes, the otter box is one of the best cases on the market.

Samsung Galaxy S5 IMO - because of microSD (up to 128Mb) slot and removable battery. Just add charging cradle and extra battery for $26. It's waterproof and relatively cheap. You can get it around $230 brand new! This is my choice. I'm not a fan of those fancy and glossy new smartphones.

iPhone with life proof case however I prefer the otter box with the belt clip.

For $55 a month I get 10 gig of data and unlimited everything else. I was on $45 and 5 gigs but for the prices $55 is better.

Any of the Samsung Galaxy "Active" models have hardened glass, shockproof, dustproof, and waterproof.

I'd still take an iPhone over it though.
