I have a 2007 379 with a C13. I have blown two different coolant hoses in the past week. I am going to replace them all as well as buy a spare for each when I get home. Are these mostly dealer only or is there a cheaper place to get them?

Don't by an off brand buy either oem or gates or quality something. NAPA or commercial parts store or dealer.
The money you save on a cheap one is lost in replacement coolant, labor down time and being stuck on the side of the road in Bumruck Egypt USA -
Are you talking about rad hoses or just generic 5/8" or 3/4" heater hose? For regular heater hose we usually use the blue Goodyear heater hose. We've found the red isn't as flexible in the cold and the regular black seems to be affected by oil contamination on the exterior more than the others.
Straight Stacks and Oxbow Thank this. -
I had good luck getting some good quality Silicone hose off Ebay. I buy it by the foot and replaced all my heater hoses.I bought some extra just in case

Maybe Dakota has a good solution, but I'd go to a dealer and buy OEM equipment. I don't believe it's good self protection to buy cheap on things that can stop your roll, and a man of wisdom always uses protection.

Heater hoses and regular stick hose can be gotten at any parts store. Google "Gates VIN decoder" and they'll give you the Gates part number for radiator and heater code hoses (also belts, tensioners, T-stats and anything else Gates makes for your truck). Your engine has a few formed hoses that you'll need to get from Cat, the air compressor upper hose and precooler hoses come to mind. The back precooler hose is a PITA to get at, but I'd change it. If you're starting to blow coolant hoses, it's easier to schedule some down to time to get it done than it is to do it on the side of the road.
Is your coolant OK? No oil or fuel getting into it? That'll cause hoses to fail.98T800NY, OLDSKOOLERnWV and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Gates VIN decoder. Thanks!

Thanks guys. Yes one of the hoses that failed was a preformed on the passenger side. Pre cooler I think. I got a radiator hose for a Ford Focus I think and it matched good enough to get me down the road. The other one was a heater hose and I just shot off the valves. My motor is sound it only has 150k on a full rebuild but they put all the original hoses back on and I guess some of them could have 800k miles if they have never been changed. They look pretty poor.
I am home now and plan on replacing all. I know about the heater hose being standard sizes and you just buy a length of it but I was mainly wondering about the preformed ones. I don't want junk hoses but I assumed I could find good ones somewhere cheaper than the dealer. -
Online ebay get a name brand one

Replaced them all. Quite a job. Took two days which included running around for parts. I got the preformed ones from CAT and the other sized hoses like upper and lower radiator hoses and the heater, trans, bunk heater hoses I used blue silicone made in USA. In total I spent about $500 on hoses and $150 on coolant.
GrapeApe Thanks this.
