Copy that, with a few differences. I lined the bottom of my custom built shelf with nice rubber insulation tape to cushion itself on the window sill and seal it and run a 2 x 4 painted to match the exterior of my truck from the bottom of the shelf to the top of the passenger side step to support the weight. Had a window boot made at the upholstery shop to seal it all up nice and tight.

I saw a video on YouTube. The Guy had the whole window unit outside, made a plenum, to direct air inside of a camper.

They have some Interesting units on Alibaba. DC thermoelectric, not sure if they work very well. All sorts of different models. One piece, mini splits. I imagine the shipping would be expensive.
