Why do you say loads with rates posted are not negotiable? I had heard that when I first started and but have found that to be totally not true. The load I load tomorrow goes 401 miles and rate posted on Dat was $1200 but I negotiated it up to $1450.

That was what I was talking about also. Broker had load posted on load board at $1200 and I got him up to $1450. I do it all the time.

Up until the 4th of July rates were killer. It has slowed down some and rates reflect that right now. When it gets like this I look for the loads nobody wants to do because I like money - a lot. So I'll do multi pick/ multi drop. Driver unload plants, whatever. Sure, I'd prefer to haul the easy money loads year round but you have to be flexible to keep your revenue per mile up. Same with winter time, when the snow starts flying I'm probably running A LOT of south to north because guys from here don't want to deal with it.

Same for me. I love it when they post a rate because that's like a minimum charge. You can almost always get a little more.

Exactly. I look at it as them setting their low starting price a lot higher for me. There has been a few times though where the posted price was already very very good and I just accepted it before somebody else beat me to it.

I love when you click on one with a posted solid rate then do nothing and the phone rings. For example it was a JB Hunt load so you answer your phone and hear "this is Sam from JB Hunt"..... ....game on :-D. And so at this point you're in the position to command several hundred maybe even a thousand or more than the posted rate. You can miss loads pushing that aggressively but you can land them too.
