Looking for some advice on terrain. I'm looking at intestate 10 or interstate 40 was wondering which route has more inclines? Im driving a small v6 suv with a loaded trailer so I would like to skirt around as many mountains as possible. Thanks in advance!

CA 99 south to CA 58 east to I 40 then US 95 south to CA 62 east, cross into AZ then AZ 72 east to AZ 95 south to Interstate 10 then east to West Texas. Avoids most of the mountains and more important, the LA area.

No problem. That's the route I have taken when heading for El Paso coming out of the NorCal area.

I would say take I-5 south to the 210 east to the 10 ,that route is alittle longer but not much hills..and it is all interstate. 70 mph all the way..if you go 95,to the,62 to the 72 to the 95..it may be shorter, but those are two lane highways that go through towns with lots of stop & go's..

With little experience pulling (or loading) a trailer I wouldn't recommend the op taking US-95 south from I-40. I agree to Bakersfield then CA-58 but go south on US-395 to I-15 then south to I-10 east. Other than climbing through the Tehachapis and the Chiricahuas very little serious hill climbing.

Between Needles and Parker, AZ you only go through Vidal Jct. and no offense to anyone from Vidal Jct, it barely qualifies as a town.

Besides he's pulling a trailer so he's restricted to 55 mph anyways.

Not saying your route is wrong or anything like that ,ratpack, just saying some people perfer as much interstate as possible, just throwing that route out there, but of course 55 in my commy state, but AZ stateline to el paso he got 800 miles of hammer down !!!
