Best state to live in to do OTR?

Open up the road atlas & look where 2 or more interstate highways intersect. Then look around that intersection for livable suburbs, to keep driving to/from work limited, or look for nearest rural area if you want land.

I would suggest keeping your drive from home to trucking company yard/terminal/service center at an hour or less. The less often you expect to get home, the longer the drive you can probably tolerate.

While it is cold in winter,Sioux Falls,SD would be a good choice. No state income tax and lots of freight goes through. Many trucking companies hire from there.

Heyyyyy...easy on the Hoosier state okay

Honestly though there's tons of freight coming through the state but as far as OTR companies go you've got Celadon and Conway(XPO) in Indianapolis and in the northern region you've got Schneider, Swift, Decker (I think they closed that terminal though), and a Prime tank terminal/drop yard. Dart has a terminal in Sellersburg. USX in Indy as well I think.
Those are the only ones I can think of. Nothing that great, but getting home is easy and freight by the house is easy too.

Truthfully, TN would be a better choice just based on what I've seen so far. I love Indiana but TN really is hard to beat for freight lanes and companies, seems like I get a load through there at least every other week.

Eastern Tennessee is beautiful, but the people there suck, unless you like meth heads that steal everything you have while you're at work,
Sure, no state income tax, but they make up for it in different ways . Plus the people just suck

Unfortunately, East Tennessee is the meth head capital of the USA. Stop in any truckstop or rest area and get swarmed by meth head women selling themselves. I'm not from that part of the state, but know they have a real problem there. The politicians and police know about it also and it's on the news often.

Texas hands down. Plenty of tanker work too from what I've heard. Plus it's in the center of the country. Plan to move there myself eventually.

The Fourstates region of Missouri, Carthage or Joplin to be specific. Intersection of I49 and I44 more trucking companies within 50 miles of this intersection than you can list here. Every major carrier has a facility near here. Literally hundreds if not thousands of small companies ranging in size from 3 trucks to 100.. It's 50 miles from Prime's SPRIMO yard and quite literally dozens of others...
