Um, if Mrs BT had a geneticist out here, we would. Unfortunately, she had a VERY rare genetic disorder that requires us to be in one of 5 areas. Boston, NYC, Lancaster County PA, Detroit, and Possibly California. 5 doctors in the country specialize in her disorder.
Shame, as we both agree this would be an awesome place for both our careers. Me driving and her with criminal psych, forensic something or other.
Like a fbi agent or csi

WAY to communist/ expensive. Massachusetts is bad enough. We've come to a compromise on PA. Cheap houses. Company terminals, good work for her, plus her first doctor who discovered the breakdown of her disorder lives in Lancaster County.
Plus the amish there have the same thing as her, and have plenty of less expensive food options for her.
Still say vegas and fly a doctor in once a year for her, but hey.. I just drive a truck

And OP. Isn't it ashamed how bad southern NH has become? I was going to invest in NH, lived in Dover, Rochester. Looks too much like Massachusetts now, plus the col has tripled in 10 years.

I understand; I have a 14 yr. old son with Cri-du-chat (cat's cry) syndrome, also known as 5p- (5p minus) syndrome, is a chromosomal condition that results when a piece of chromosome 5 is missing. One in 80,000 births.

You can budget for a trip to PA annually. Take some vacation days and make the trip. Live in excellent weather the rest of the year. Anyway, most of us have some hurdles in life and some are more complex than others. We just have to do whats best with the situation.
I'm not in your exact situation, so it's easy to give advice when I'm not in your shoes. Best wishes.

My wife grew up in northern NH, "above the notch" in Littlton. It's a beautiful spot but winters are beyond brutal up there in the White Mountains. Plus, last time we were up there we tried to go to the DD for coffee, but the cops had the place blocked off because some 17 yo kid died of a heroin OD in the bathroom.

I lived in Claremont, NH for 10 years before escaping to the wilds of Iowa about 12 years ago. The property tax on the house I sold for $167,500 back in 2004 has doubled to $7200 a year while the assessment is only $174,000. I'm still waiting for someone to explain the NH advantage to me? The lack of sales and income taxes. I pay less overall in Iowa with sales, income and property combined and live in a much much nicer town.
