If your going through company paid training, your probably going to be looking at a contract when your done. They take money out of your paycheck for the cost of the training. So they want to make sure you don't bale on em.
Also I wouldn't necessarily look for a "short" training program. This is a big decision your making I wouldn't want to just opt for the shortest training program. Get some quality training, it will pay off.shortwjason Thanks this. -
Take a look at Prime Inc. Their program has been good overall, only problems so far has been the hygiene of the trainers
You do sign a contract for $3750 in case you quit within one year but one guy I met here quit after six months and went to work for a few other companies but eventually came back to Prime and while they didn't attempt to collect any money when he left, the balance he "owed" was still there. You pay them back in time, not in money. Seems decent. -
Prime reduces it to 1750 if you leave after 6 months according to their website. It is not a short program though. The only company sponsored programs that I would consider short are CRE, CRST, and maybe FFE. None of which I would attend.

i think alot has to do with the mentor you get, you read the horror stories etc on here all the time, my mentor has been fantastic, and gives a #### about your driving and being the best you can be. Gives me all his tips to make as much money as possible etc, and then when we are at terminals or talking to other people within swift, when we go back to the truck we discuss why they arent making money, cause its fairly easy to tell straight away. I know swift at denver is working on cleaning up the mentor program so that they have mentors who care about their students and not just in it for the money, but like most things it takes time.

Unless you are paying $6000 cash for your school you are going to have a contract wherever you go! Whether it be a contract with the bank, trucking company, your mom! You will have one!
If you are looking for a good company that's a different story.
shortwjason Thanks this. -
Wow i hate contacts. I was looking at ffe because
i cant get a hazmat -
There are lots of companies that don't require Hazmat. Central Ref. doesn't require it and they have a school right there in Fontana.
