Best tires for mileage and quality?

Since this is the flatbed forum and most are spreads I'll say the best spread tire Michelin XZE2.

If someone gave them to me I'd run them on the drives and steers too.

Stay away from Bridgestone 720s for drives.

I have a set with 15/16 left on them that were ruined from the outer treads holding rocks that drilled through to the steel cord, Bridgestone said it's my fault for driving on gravel because it's an OTR tire not regional.

 

So because you abused the tires by traveling on gravel and not removing your "drilled in rocks" that makes for a bad tire ?

 

I will ALWAYS run the Bridgestone M726 for my drives. My last set got 550k miles out of them with 4/32 left when I traded. The set I have now is down to 25/33 and I have a little over 250k on these. My last set was mainly used off road and rail yard work. These are holding up better and longer because I've mainly done OTR with them.

as for on the spread axle, my wagon has Contiental HSR2 on it with about 100k miles and here's how they look as of this morning.

Michelin XZA3+ for steer tires, Michelin XDN2 for drives, and my trailer came with Michelin Pilot XT-1's, we will see how they hold up on the trailer, but so far so good.

 

S: XZA3+ @ 105 psi

Because I can get 200K plus out of them and the steer position is sacred. They actually last too long because I like starting winter with full tread on the steering.

D: XDN2 @ 80 psi

Because they grip exceptionally well for the first 17/32", wear at a projected 500K and have a reasonable rolling resistance.

T: XZA3+. @80 psi

Because I needed 8 tires right now and my tire guy had 8 blems ready to go. They're working very well (on a closed tandem.)
