I've tried a hickory thumper, a hammer with a rubber handle, plastic headed hammer, thumper with the metal end on it and now I'm back to the simple piece of hickory. If it stings my hand a little were good to go. Also like to look between the duals to check for tire squat

I use a regular 16 oz. claw hammer,,,the one that I also nail in cleats in the trailer, etc with. And use as a self defense weapon, along with my trusty 'Wasp Spray', and fillet knife. Never know when I might stop and catch a few and fry them up...need a fillet knife, Officer, I really do".

I use a 3/4 inch steel pipe 18 inches long with a brass T connector on the end. It doubles as a clean out cap tightener and dome ear hammer.
