The Oasis on I44 in Missouri, exit 145, is a real good place to eat and the prices are not to bad. They remodeled it recently and it's pretty spiffy. It's an Ambest. Never showered there so I don't know about them.

I am surprised that no one listed the Little America in Flagstaff AZ. It's an AMBEST. It is clean and friendly. The restaurant has a kickazz breakfast for 5 bucks and a huge cheeseburger and fries for 7. The showers cost 7 bucks if you don't have any AMBEST points and the BATHROOMS (not shower rooms) are big enough to play basketball in. Garden sized tubs, enclosed showers that are huge and great lighting for you to be able to see yourself in the mirror so as to not mutilate your face when shaving.

Best I have seen in years.

You mentioned this in another post (I think it was the Chicken Fried Steak thread), then I realized I HAVE eaten there. Breakfast, one morning about a year ago. Yes, it was great!! Good portions, good service.

    Now for the CFS.....

My new favorite is the Petro in Fargo. Everything is updated, pleasant staff, and goods are presented in a manner that invites you to browse...nice spot for a 34.

The thing about Russel's is, your phone may keep wanting to go back to Texas time. Stayed there last night while headed west. Had to go to airplane mode to get it to pickup Mountain time, but a few minutes later it would be back on Central time. Did this twice with my Verizon phone, I finally gave up and handled my alarm needs accordingly.

Their free wifi [that is also available in most parts of the lot] is pretty decent.

    Petro in Clearwater, MN
    Wings America I80 in Iowa
    TA in Joplin
Greater Chicago I55 was good for the area.
    Bosselman in Grand Island

Really anywhere with good water pressure and without soft water. A good mexican joint near by is nice.

Many have gone. It's going to be either Whites in VA off 81, Iowa Wolcott for the top two. The rest of them are average to middling. Again many have gone, including a number I considered home stops.

Wild Wild West Truck Plaza- Las Vegas, NV The place is nothing special but it is RIGHT on the strip. There *is* no closer parking and they don't charge. I took a 4 day layover there and wasn't hassled once. Word to the wise: be on the lookout for hookers/pimps who work the motel across the street and keep an eye on those keeping an eye on you.

    Jim's Truck Plaza
    - Exit 52E off I-90 in New York (near Buffalo) The place itself is a dump with restrooms that never have paper towels and a restaurant that leaves much to be desired. BUT it is right across the street from a high end mall with an IMAX theater and walking distance to a Cabellas and any of 20 quality chain restaurants. They're hip to the fact that they suck and employ a security guard to do nothing but make sure drivers don't park and go somewhere else. Park, walk into the restaurant and just keep walking right out the front door to the mall. The security guy only watches the back and won't see you leaving through the front.
