I have to make the trip from Tampa, Florida all the way to eastern Long Island, New York in a week.
I will have to sleep in my car at truck stops because I can't risk staying anywhere due to the virus.
I'm looking for recommendations for good truck stops (travel centers now?) to stay the night at in my car.
I'm a 24y/o male and of course I want to be safe, but obviously I'm slightly better off than a female traveling alone so it's not huge concern to me.
Also do you have to pay to spend the night at some stops?

Any with a open parking spot for a car.

One open all night is the best.

if your coming up 95n the state run rest areas work perfectly. Never were full when I made the trip in my vehicle to fl before the corona. Truck stops all along that stretch. FJ and Pilots, loves, etc. All safe enough to park an catch a couple of hours in the car section.

Did I mention park in the car section whether it's a truck stop or rest area? ;)

NC rest areas are open. I can't speak for SC, or GA. I prefer a rest area vs a truck stop in my car.

Lock it up, snuggle in, get your rest. Nobody will bother you at a rest area for the mot part. State police might if you decide to camp out, but for the most part, they don't trouble you if your just grabbing a nap. They've not done it to me in my personal vehicle when traveling.

Good luck an just stay aware of your surroundings.

Or just read my post above D's an follow my advice an make both of us happy. ;)

@D.Tibbitt Next time you catch a car in a truck spot, you should tarp it. Haha!

If you do please record, cause the person freaking out in the car would be hilarious.

    I shouldn't give people ideas..

Halfway mark is about Fayetteville, NC. There is a rest area there in Cumberland County MM 48 and the next exit (49) there are all sorts of Motels and restaurants.

Yeah.. drive 8 or 9 hours, grab a quick nap for a few hours BEFORE the bad time of night rolls around (1-4) and get up and do some exercise... grab a coffee and ROLL.

    Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this.
