    Greetings Everyone,

Very first post here. Sincerely looking for good advice/feedback on new career options in the trucking industry. Long story short, just moved to VA from NC and live in Richmond, planning for the long term here. I would like to find the best overall option for a CDL school with housing or advice on the best local housing options (even out-of-pocket).

I would be willing to go to school anywhere but want a VA CDL due to my desire to remain based in Richmond. Also, who can vouch for respectable companies to apply to after graduation?

I have never operated a tractor trailer and I am looking forward to this career change option. It seems like a wicked long row to hoe at my age (52) but I am always looking on the bright side so hat's off to anyone who can help me on the first steps of my journey! So glad I found this forum. Thanks to all in advance for your guidance.

what ever you do dont go to the school at john tyler!!! or shippers choice!! your best bet is to try and see if a company offers a training course or so... theres a school up in the valley (near harrisonburg) that i hear offers an pretty good course but STAY AWAY from Tyler and Shippers Choice!!

    Freddie Thanks this.

Late, check with epes for the list of approved scbools in that area. They are a great place to work and we hire out of a school they will be a good school! Best of luck!
