iv been going there about almost daily for 25 years coming up nj turnpike take exit 10 to 440 north to staten island to 278 east (if you have a van ignore the 12' 6" signs 13.6" goes no problem!!! just run the middle lane thru brooklyn) to 495 east try to get in there before 6 am and you won't hit too much traffic unless a major screwup happens which can happen at any time then coming back out - 495 west to exit 27 throgs neck bridge -295 north to 95 that route will cost $67 if you go in the gw 95n to 295s to 495e and back out that way add another $27

90% of the time i run flatbed and go in over the verizano and come out thru manhatten so it only cost $40 in and out (they don't like 53 or 102 in manhattan especially during the day)

never go on any new york parkway they have only 10' clearance!!!!!!!!!

Take the most "DIRECT" route out of there; you'll only waste even more time and money trying to find your way around the tolls (and they already know that, these toll people are very smart) not to mention the frustration, and the chance you could end up on a restricted route:

Read my blog about that $1165.00 ticket I got for trying to be smart and take the short way; I wished I was smart enough back then to do what you're doing; and that is to "ASK".......Jo Bernard

Wish I had seen the post about the 12' clearances !!! I got off exit 27 because the sign said "all trucks over 12' 9" exit now". What a bunch of idiots to post something like that !!!!! I cannot get over it. I try to follow the signs to be sure I'm being a good citizen and end up in Brooklyn for no reason. Think I'll take the advice to fly or sail in next time.
