I could use a raise and feel im worth it and deserve it. Ive got a years and few months experience and 8+ months at current company. I only want 2 cents more.
I feel like i might get blow back or foul treatment for asking whether i get the raise or not. Also im considering leaving after a year at current company so i also kinda feel bad thinking what if they give me a raise and i leave but kinda dont.
Im aware that good points of asking for a raise are not just i deserve it but am worth the money an i have a few points to make.

is this not the season it slacks off a bit? Best to go start climbing the ladder of the company to start asking...not demanding.

If you want 2c.. ask for 8c
But, if you're gonna bail on them for something else in 4 months anyway... for a 3rd job in less than 2 years..

    I wouldn't bother.
    Provide superior service.
    Be on time, EVERY TIME.
    Complete a full year.
Go to the next job ONLY if it's a real opportunity and an advancement.
    Don't make lateral moves.
    Don't move for 2-3cpm.

You'll become "one of those job hoppers" really quickly.
Find a home.. and become a PRO.
You'll get paid. Just not today like everyone wants.

When I use to be employed with a company before I went into bussiness for myself, I have found that you just ask for a raise higher than what you actually want. They then counter with the dollar amount you actually wanted. Works every time. The. Of course if they say no and you know you deserve it and have been a dedicated loyal employee, just tell them you are looking for a new company then. They will get mad. And probably say “you are free to do what you want”. Expect to hear from someone within 48 hours telling you they want to reconsider

Why would you want a raise? You get to drive a big rig.You should be happy with all the respect and glory that comes with be a trucker. It's money for nothing and the chicks are free.

Walk in, tell the boss he's a low down ahole and you've been sleeping with his wife as you throw the keys to the truck at him.
Then you demand a $2.00 / mile raise and threaten to quit if you don't get it.

Or you can act like an adult. Go in and have a sit down, explain to him that you are seeing jobs available making more, and while you would like to stay you also are unwilling to work for sub-par wages. Go in with proof too. If he does not give you a raise, doesn't matter if it's because he will not or or can not, well you tried.

Basically go in acting like an adult and be respectful and explain why you deserve a raise. If you cannot explain why, then there is no reason to get one.

If other employees doing the same work get paid more and you are a good employee . Try and use that as leverage but if they don’t get more it will be a tough time getting anything

I prefer the old stand by of EARN IT.

Prove that you're loyal to them.
    Have an impeccable safety record.
    Have a clear violation record.
Shoe them that you have good inspections fro DOT.
Have a solid pick up and delivery history.

I was gonna thank your post after I read the first paragraph. Good thing I read the rest though or I would have wasted a valuable "thank".
    :D:D:D

The sad reality though, is that 99.8% of trucking companies won't volunteer a raise to anyone.

    Omega1 and ZVar Thank this.
