I got my CDL through the WIA. It gave me free tuition plus other perks and took a couple of weeks to run through the red tape. There are several paths you can take but I qualified through the "displaced worker" section. My former vocation no longer made me enough money to support my family and I proved it with Bureau of Labor Statistic info.
I was also required to provide proof that my new chosen vocation--trucking--had a bright enough future to justify the funding. I did so again with BLS stats.
I offered to pay the money back that they had loaned me but they said they had no mechanism to allow me to do that. So I paid cash and put another guy they had hanging around at Workforce through trucking school. I thought it was the perfect solution to the program's missing mechanism !

    passport220 and DevilNutsUSMC Thank this.

So if I just showed that my vocation (security) averages #### wages with those stats then you think that would be my ticket? Do I need to be out of work? From what I've been told I can't be employed full time and make very much money. Ill straight up quit if I have to if that's what it takes.

No need for sarcasm, do you have 3-5k just sitting around to throw down? I'm not looking for a freaking hand out so stay out of the thread with this nonsense!

So then; name a better option. That's what he's asking for. Welfare? Is that the answer?

This school has a lot of financial options and doesn't sound bad at all...Give them a call and see if they can set you up.

Calm down. Simply ask a question and still waiting for a response. A rip off in what way? Because you don't have the tuition cost in cash?

I would take the tact that you can't support yourself or your family on the wages you are making and are not likely to in the future. There are other paths you can take with WIA --- If you're a veteran it's easy. I'd talk to a Workforce office in your town and ask them. I wouldn't quit your job just yet as that looks bad on your record.

You seem to be trying to improve your life and I think that's admirable. Don't give up until you reach your dream!
