Honestly, I'm thinking of just signing on with Stevens, going through their school to get my CDL, then jumping ship to my buddies company once I have the license. I really don't want to get left with a 5k+ bill for the loan but if I'm able to make decent money and/or find a company that reimburses like Friday said, then that's what i'll do.

There's a huge chasm of difference between a "hand out" and a "hand up". Personally, I used WIA to help me through some hard times. I can now support my family, myself, and more. I took the "hand out "so that I could get the "leg up". You got a problem with that?

I've seen a lamentable movement in this country that seems to detest those in need. Seems strange to me as most of those folks claim to be Christians. Seems even stranger that a large portion of those folks are from red states that absorb most of the welfare money the country gives out. Oh, you didn't know that most of the folks on welfare are white and from the red states? Here's the breakdown of the top 8 states that get federal aid as percentage of general revenue.....
      1. Mississippi, 42.9%
      2. Tennessee, 39.5%
      3. South Dakota, 39.0%
      4. Missouri, 38.2%
      5. Montana, 37.4%
      6. Georgia, 37.3%
      7. New Mexico, 36.6%
      8. Alabama, 36.1%
      9. Maine, 35.3%

    States receiving the least.....

    40. Illinois, 25.9%
    41. New Jersey, 25.5%
    42. California, 25.0%
    43. Nevada, 25.0%
    44. Kansas, 24.9%
    45. Delaware, 24.8%
    46. Connecticut, 23.4%
    47. Virginia, 22.9%
    48. Alaska, 22.4%
    49. Hawaii, 21.5%
    50. North Dakota, 19.0%

Sure, many folks out there are just looking for the government to support them because they are lazy. But there are many--possibly the majority--- who just need a helping hand up. I, for one, am quite happy to lend a hand to my fellow Americans so they can become self-sustained workers. I, for one, have no fear of the word "socialism". We are, after all, mostly a socialist country with all kinds of government sponsored socialist programs. Didn't you know that? I'll name some for you if you need me to. However, the next time you call a policeman, fireman, or ambulance you should be thinking....socialism really works! ;-)

Ok...I'm going to now don my flame resistant suit.
