Trucking company schools are a rip-off UNLESS you have no other options. THEN, they are merely charging you double for CDL school and paying you 1/3 of your worth for X months. ie: STILL a ripoff, but if you have no other options, you may need to be ripped off to get your CDL.

It's a total scam. The student gets saddled with debt or stuck in a dead-end, awful job with no recourse for a ridiculous amount of time.

I could take any likely 21-y/o kid onto my truck, train him/her get his/her CDL and make significant money making him work for me in 1/4 the time Swift. et all does it WITHOUT starving him to death. I've managed other businesses where it takes a year to train someone to be really adequate for the job. It never ocurred to me to make someone PAY for that training. If they aren't worth it, your interview skills should tell you that. If they are, screwiung them over will only make them hate you, and they will quit before they really start making you money and take all that training to your competitor, who will thank you for being a jerk.

Are you looking to get your cdl just to use in the oil patch? Like the railroad workers that need a CDL but don't ever drive over the road? If so just go to one of those 1 day cdl places cost a few hundred bucks. That's what the railroad workers do.

    DevilNutsUSMC and nax Thank this.

I don't know what state your in but I see them everywhere in the midwest. I have known several railroad workers that went down and got there cdl in one day. Im on my phone so don't know if I can add a couple links for examples.

    http://capitalcdltraining.com/

    http://www.cdltesttruck.com/

Those were just a couple that I googled but there litarely everywhere. Trucking companies will NOT accept this as a school. These one day companies will usually have you take the test in a single axle day cab 6 speed or automatic with a 28ft trailer. You walk away with a class A license and all endorsements if you passed them when you got your permit same as anybody else.

Yes of course . If you pass the endorsements when you walk in and take your permit. Take the test for doubles and triples at the same time, why not its just a written test or on a computer in most places nowadays.
Just google one day CDL in the state you end up in.. You guys up in the NW have some different rules that require so many hours behind the wheel to get a CDL.not so here in the midwest. Yet

Depends on your situation. Its not a short cut for a road job because the insurance company's want the schooling. But for off road and railroad and a host of others that just need the CDL it works.
