I assume you were discharged with less than an honorable discharge if unable to use GI Bill. As for company sponsored training being a "ripoff," though some may be, I strongly disagree as a blanket statement. I went through Prime's training program and started my career at 46cpm, averaging between 2500-3000 miles a week. Their training was much better than these CDL mills that produce licensed drivers with mere hours behind the wheel with an empty trailer on flat roads and minimal backing practice. I drove for multiple weeks, with fully loaded trailers through all sorts of terrain and backing practice at both truck stops and actual shipping/receiving docks throughout before getting license, then did another 30,000 miles as a team before being set about on my own. I stuck around for a year, which I grossed over 50 grand and owed them nothing more. Hardly a ripoff
