If you use Dat load boards i hear they are OK they have an App. for smart phones that gives you the boards and also where wal-marts are. as a company driver myself i love those wal-marts :).

There are plenty of load boards out there if you don't already have contacts with brokers. Just do a search on "load boards" and you'll turn up quite a few options, all with subscription rates.

A simple question for all of the O-Os. Is it possible to stay busy as an O-O using only loadboards / brokers or is this a slow death sentence? For example, I have a truck that costs me $1.05 per mile to operate can I find enough loads using loadboards and brokers without having one or more contracts with direct shippers? Also, has anyone had success converting a loadboard load for say Tysons Food into a contract for regular hauls?

    Again, all responses are appreciated.

    Ron.

Most brokers have a clause in their contracts you sign so you cannot book loads from their customers for 3 years.

The best way to get loads is simply sales. Whether with a direct customer, through a broker, or leasing to a carrier and letting their sales people bang on doors, it takes sales.
