I enjoy the US 30 through Cokeville and it's easier and probably faster than going through Hoback or Jackson but it's been so long since I went via 191, I can't say for sure time-wise.

If it's your first time through, taken US26 in. Very beautiful and scenic. When I leave Idaho Falls to head east, I tend to go that way. More for aesthetic reasons than any necessary advantage.

I agree on 26. It's about 5 hours from Rock Springs up 191 and 26 vs 6 hours going up 30. You will have a Wyoming Poe going up 191 at alpine jct. but you have an Idaho poe going up 30 and I15. The scenery is way better up thru the hoeback although the tourists can get a little thick this time of year but nothing real bad. We have had snow on both routes this week and calling for more next week so really there is no difference besides scenery.

Be very careful when choosing your own route out there. Idaho has many, many restricted roads! Make sure to check your Road Atlas! Hefty fines!

hwy 30. I use this road to bypass Utah all the time. The road is in good condition. and over the last 2 years they have widend it on the west side. So exit 66 just past little america, and then 30 across to I-15 in mccammon. Then I-15N. There are trucks on it all the time. You have the little america truck stop just before you get off I-80 (great burgers on the fuel island). Then you a flying J about halfway threw. Then you have the ranch hand truck stop that has a great salad. and anouther flying J just before you get onto I-15.
