Isn't there also a fuel pressure spring in the transfer pump?

it doesn't matter how many filters are in a system, which ever is closer to the tank is primary, (premier, primero, primary) and yes there's a pressure spring in the pump, but that's just for the, pump the fuel pressure regulator is in the secondary fuel filter base right under the return line that comes from the back of the head, on the previous picture the one circled on the right.

That is correct, the primary filter is always the first to filter in the system.

can i instead loosen that hose next to the bleeder hex thing? I think i stripped the bleeder hex port. So I wander if unscrewing that hose a little would do the same?

The primary filter is between the tank and the pump. It is the “first” or “primary” filter to clean the fuel. The secondary filter is between the pump and the head. It is the “second” or “secondary “ filter because it is the second filter to further clean the fuel.

When changing filters on a Cat do the filter on the frame rail. Start the engine and get it smoothed out. Then change the filter on the engine. Doing this often avoids issues with changing filters. If you ran it completely out of fuel, good luck.

All this blog is BS. I paid 400 bucks for mobile mechanic to come. He sprayed a bit of starter fluid in the air intake and told me to make sure not to stop cranking until the engine is running. It took him 2 minutes to start my truck. No flipping loosening of hoses , and all the crap in this thread. First option has to be, spray the dam starter fluid. I've had it done like 3 times on this cat. Between running out of diesel, and it turned out my priming pump is leaking air, which shoves air into the engine fuel lines... It was a lot of "crap, not again, its not starting dam it lol"
