Well I don't run flat, but do run 6 axel low ,but Ohio is not really very permit friendly you may need a longer than normal tractor wheel base, they use I BELEIVE THEG CALL IT A BRIDGE formula, its kinda complicated, and they won't permit any divisible loads , and if you run permits in Ohio u better allow for stops figure out where u want to stop even for fuel , if it ain't on the permit they been very aggressive lately, oh and be sure you have a copy of OS1A form with your permit , its like a general conditions form , or they fry ya for that one too ,

You might check on web sight alike wide load or one of those type sites , they have some good information on what type permits are " common " ect.

generally you can permit 20,000# per axle but it depends on axle spacing and tire size,,some states like Colorado will permit upto 55,000 on 2 drive axles..Ohio will require an insurance certificate ,,I use a permit service in Ohio called Nationwide Express Service,,they are in Crooksville,OH,,great permit service reasonable prices too.

Are you going to haul coils? It really depends where you're going to pull from. In Ohio you can permit a spread axle up 121,000 lbs on certain routes. To run in MI it needs to be a 4 axle. In Indiana I think you van permit it up 121 also. If you go with a 6 axle you can permit up to 134 ish to selected places. Toledo, delta, pioneer these are all right along the border. I think Cleveland too but I've never been there with a six. Indiana can be permitted to MI weight on certain roads basically around Gary Indiana. it's very complicated and the only sure thing is whatever trailer you get won't be the right one for everything!! So good luck.

Might of been better to place in HH forum
when I have a doubt , I check on that particular states DOT website.
Also i Beleive it's called Parker pilot service web page has a reference page as to weight and dimension limits per state

i wish they were uniform laws. It would make it easy for a simpleton like me.
    Good luck

Max legal weight in Ohio is 90,000lbs so long as you are registered for it and aren't over-axle. There are plenty of roads you can't legally go down at that weight, so routing is key.
