Is all I can get my hands on for now is a pickup and a flat bed trailer. I want to start my own transport business and work up. Where should I start? If I get a box trailer is there any way of getting smaller dedicated loads?
Posting on this forum cause I have a CDL A and drove in ND for about a year and a half.
I've been looking at shipments on uShip, but it seems impossible to link up shipments timeframe wise.
Best way to start up a hauling business? Dont have a rig.

Try the OOIDA website. They have load boards and other owner-operator information.

Great thanks, I just went to check it out and its $34, no big deal but will it have more shipping loads that uShip? Also my trailer will only hold 1 car, will have shipments that small?

Do not go to uship they have hidden broker fees!!!! No rig...i started mine with penske. Used them for 6 months and bought my own rigs.......set up your authority through fmcsa, establish insurance, go through load boards and selectively choose brokers and develop a relationship with them. Go through and do your research for a factoring company....whatever you do, do not factor with financial carrier services, foley , or transfac they screwed me. I use factorloads now. Do not go through these 3rd party brokers or websites for getting your own authority. It is only 300.00 to get your authority through fmcsa. Stay legal and safe.

Look on load boards for ltl shipments i recommend getloaded

With the high cost of having your own authority that trailer will never work.
You might be able to lease the pickup on in the oilfield though. -
What kind of costs am i looking at here with having my own authority? Is there no way around it when shipping smaller stuff?? What about a hotshot service? If this wont work, what will? lol

Insurance will likely run you about 10k per year alone.. a 3/4 diesel and 24' gooseneck would be about the bare minimum

Ask Bayou, he ran a pickup a few years ago. Now he's an old hand. Went through the multiple trucks thing and is back down to one.
