Grab a cup of coffee some donuts then log on duty for 15 minutes and sit in drivers seat while ur truck warms up seems to be what most drivers do out here

Don't over complicate the PTI. If you do so later you will stop doing it. You can do a good pre trip in about 5 minutes. Walk around your truck with a flashlight with the truck with the tractor brakes engaged and the trailer brakes engaged. Make sure you have your lights on. Walk around checking to make sure ALL of your rig's tires are inflated. make sure there are no air leaks. Then make sure no liquid is leaking. <<where flashlight comes in. Open up the hood and check your oil and coolant levels. One more thing. At least every 2 or 3 months check ALL your trucks permits and registration. Honestly, it has been my experience that the biggest majority of the time when a driver gets in trouble it is the small stuff.

My pretrip is basically walking down my gravel driveway to get to my truck. Once I’m at my rig, I get in and start my trip. So me walking to my truck is basically pre-trip I guess you would say

Unfortunately yes for company drivers. Not for owner operators though. Life is good

Just read your states cdl book, i can't tell you the section since each state could be different. Follow and memorize the book . Put it into an order that makes sense . I wrote my own for my Texas exam

I agree. However to be honest you are going to find most states use THIS manual.

You can roll coal right into your DPF filter. Does that count?

Got a imagination? Pretend the vehicle you own is the tractor that you must drive. Or even better use a riding lawn mower as much of the truck is similar in design. Have a plan on how to do it and make it a habit. It is actually a good idea to pretrip your own vehicle. Do it when ever you approach a vehicle. Soon it will become second nature. Wife still thinks I am nuts everytime I pretrip her minivan, yet hey I at least know it is safe.
