Most people get 8 with normal jobs. It's not that bad. Some OTR drivers don't get any.

How many can you take consecutively? Do any roll over? Is it based on calender month or rolling month?

If you can take them all consecutively I would work 3 weeks and take one off.

Get a job in the food service industry as quick as you can...you'll work on average 4 days a week with three off...plus you may even be home every night. The works is kinda hard...not just looking out of a windshield all day or night...you'll be healthier for it too. Its also , if you can get with the right company a job that you can retire from...but if you must do the OTR thing then try and split your time -up with 2 weeks out and 3 days home...the three days being a long week-end Fri. thru Sun. or Sat.thru Mon.

I suppose you will retract your reply to me now based on his clarification? ;-)

I drive regionally. I usually leave on Sunday morning and get home Friday morning. That pretty much gives me two full days off and then two consecutive nights off. That's how I prefer it.

As was already noted, even on a normal job, you still only get two days off a week. My routing allows me to get home an extra night or two often if I want. However, what I've found is that if I do that, I tend to stay up too late and then am really tired the next morning when I have to continue driving. So, I don't do it anymore. Although I might make a quick stop by the house for an afternoon delight with the wife if needed ;-)

ha...time off???? whats that...when you do get time off, you spend THAT time doing what you couldnt do while you were working...house work, bills, doctor, etc etc etc.......there is no TIME off for truck drivers......until you retire...then you are bored stiff and wish you were driving again....oh wait, sorry, thats my life...never mind

I know what you mean. I pay all the bills from my smart phone on the road. When I get home, if the lawn needs mowing I get on my riding mower with a cold one and drive in circles. Other than taking my wife's truck down for an occasional service, I sit on the big leather recliner and enjoy my wife asking me if I "need anything"? :)
