It sounds like you have a lot of the bases covered with skype. How old are your kids. You could take pictures to send them of interesting places you go to, or scenery even that they might like.

Do you have an idea as to what type school you would go to. Research some of the ones like Prime, Werner, Swift, etc. Most company sponsored schools require you to work for a year at least in order for the schooling to be free, or if you quit early they will charge you some of the price.

I actually have my CDL-A. Went to West Michigan CDL out here (WIA Grant). I am moving to Roehl's orientation in 10 days and their schooling, training, and phases for 3 weeks or so.

My kids are 6 and nearly 3. Been married 7 years. The 6 year old has ADHD and ODD, so was/am sorta worried bout her driving my wife nuts, LOL. She got on some ADHD med this last month. Convos with her make a little more sense now. Still mega hyper though.

Thought about later on taking a Dash Cam and shooting some driving music vids for them, back home.

As you and others have mentioned Skype is great to use to keep in touch with the family. I have a crappy old cell phone for $35 a month which wont do Skype and found the best way to stay in touch was via a tablet using a data plan from Millenicom which uses the Verizon network. Have had great coverage just about everywhere, it is just so great to catch up with loved ones via video chat we even sit down and eat dinner together over video. For me personally it keeps me sane while out on the road. Good luck to you and your family.

From the looks of everything, you have been a victim of outright blatant discrimination.

Yea, LOL. Male and White. Not a lawyer in all of prior existence to ever look at this case and say, "I can win this" to me.
And even if I did try, my name would be "mud sucking scum bag" forever more.

I'm home everu 6-14 days. I see my kids when I'm home (3 and 17). Their mother and I are getting divorced and I'm seeing someone else so my days off are prettu packed. My marriage broke up partly due to trucking but not the way you would think, lol.

That is a good idea doing a video of your driving with music, esp if there is some good mountains and stuff to see.

I know how the ADHD goes, have some grandkids with it, better with meds but the side effects are not good sometimes. Hope it helps your daughter.

My grand daughters who are going to be 3 in November (twins) are happy to see paw paw, but Zoe is the one who always wants to know where he is on the computer. I keep up with his route etc, and you know how it puts A, B, C etc for stops you put in, well she wants to know where he is, so I point to whatever letter he is at, zoom in and it's better even if it is a truckstop where she can see a truck. May not be able to fool the 6 year old for long, but the 3 year old would know the difference. Even the older kids like the info too. He was somewhere and grandson saw a lake that looked like a dragon even.

I hear Roehl is good, according to who and what you read. I think all have to be given a chance and patience is the key. Having a good dm or understanding with dm helps. You will have a lot to learn in a short time frame.

Is your wife's job where she can get kids to school and preschool(daycare) and afford it, and back after school. She may have to way the quitting just yet, till you get a good paycheck going. Some months in the late winter may cut down on miles and not pick up till spring.

Wife ends up working either 8-5 or 10-7. Goes back and forth with no predictability. Daycare while in school is going to eat half checks and out of school is going to eat 3/4 checks.

We have a provider, the only one around that will work with a schedule so wonky it requires both drop off and pick ups from school.

Trucking will provide a great life for your family and you. It is hard at first but it will get more manageable as time goes on. You have an accounting education. Learn the tax code as it applies to the unique world of trucking and do our taxes as a sideline. I need a good truck tax accountant. I bet I'm not alone.
