Right now with WINTER fuel , your weight and where your running 7 MPG is not all that bad.

Do you have much idling , now that its warming up things will improve a bit. How long have you had this unit

Ok, just my side of it. Your sig shows you are far more experienced than I, so these are more for the newbes who come to your thread.

    1) actually check the tires pressure instead of just thumping.

    2) rollercoaster the hills. Pick up a little speed (3-5 mph) on the downhills and use the momentum to help carry you up the next (rolling hills terrain).

    3) gentle on the throttle. The only time I ram the throttle is getting onto the freeway on a short ramp.

    4) keep the trailer as close to the tractor as you can for weight and turning/backing. Less wind coming off the top of the cab to the front of the trailer.

    5) Run the speed limit. I run within 3 mph of the limit.

My pig went from 6ish to 7.5 when I took an effort to do these things. This was pulling heavy rigs (95k-103k gross, dry van or reefers) in WA/OR, I-5 corridor. Before you get up in arms over the numbers, it was a freshly rebuilt truck. I know they are a little high for those weights.

Watch the speed, idle, and jack rabbit starts is about all you can do. If you don't know it yet, search out the power curve on your cam. But from the looks of it, you are doing just fine. 7.0 is good in the NE.
