You forgot that we also got Hooter shots nearly every day and not all of them were sagging down to their knees and 500 lbs. No A/C, power steering or air ride. Now that was the Good Ole Days. NOT.
Some of it actually was better, but so was my 20 something body and the things it could do, some I won’t admit to now.

I have no defense to that statement, but Pandora still plays it for me.

I was at the Mid America Truck show one year and I stopped by the Mack booth. I asked the engineer why he couldn’t talk Buster into air ride. He motioned to a fellow standing across the way and said ask him, he is the one responsible for ordering Buster tractors. After he told me maintenance costs were less with spring suspension I asked him if he didn’t give a F@@@ about his drivers backs. Probably just a coincidence, but air ride tractors were soon on the horizon.

They weren’t bad with a load, but coming back MTY with a single pup on a 600 mile lay down. You felt every bump for 600 miles. However they were a major improvement over the single axle cabovers, so it wasn’t all bad.

Our Macks still aren't great, but the Kenworths are smooth going forward (reverse is another story). Had a few Internationals kicking around, they were good. Best tractors we have, though, are the Freightliners. I actively enjoy driving those.
