****This is a warning to all prospective drivers that are seeking employment with Jordan Carriers out of Natchez,Ms. To all current Jordan drivers that refer drivers to receive recruiting bonus. My name is Lentil S I have been driving for over 13 years over the road,6 of the 13 years flatbed. TWIC and Alabama Coil Certified prior to applying. After reaching the half way point of the year I considered looking for another carrier with stronger miles. I talked with a Jordan driver at Ameristeel in Jackson,Tn. He had high praise to how he was treated and the miles he ran. He gave me a
recruiting pamplet and we exchanged numbers. Two weeks went by and
I gave Jordan a call. I talked with Susan one of the recruiters. She took my info over the phone and I gave her permission to run my DAC. Two days later she called and said everything looked good, when can I start??
I then told her I would like to give my current employer a 2 week notice.
Two weeks notice turned to one week notice due to the economy. I gave Susan a call back to see if I could start a week earlier. She said yes, I will call you Friday with bus info to start on Monday. Never once did she say you are not officially hired until Thursday, and sometimes they do process of elimination thru some bogus questionaire on a computer just in case they have more drivers than trucks. This week as of Tues, so far they randomly picked 2 drivers out of seven they brought down to go home without reason. The application process, the computer questionaire, drug testing, and back xray was all that was done. If they were going to base employment on questionaire they should have given questionaire online before they bring drivers hundreds of miles to Natchez. The recruiters should be upfront to prospective drivers, many quit jobs with high hopes to start with Jordan. If the back xray looked bad, positive drug test or bad references from previous employers,I could better understand why they send drivers back home. But to disrupt the livelihood of drivers by not being honest during the recruiting process is wrong. Tell drivers the recriuting process at Jordan before you bring them to Natchez, don't waste their time and waste Jordan money. If you have 7 trucks availiable don't bring in 15 drivers. That's wrong!!!! Then give them a bogus questionnaire as the process of elimination. So drivers when applying for Jordan, keep a job on standby, keep bus fare or car rental money on standby, they are not upfront and honest!!!! You are not officially hired until u get truck keys in your hand.
Sincerly; Lentil S

There are companies out there that are honest and upfront on what to expect during orientation. If a driver did not pass a drug test, road test,or bad references from previous employer he or she should expect to not have a job. Many would not apply if they could pass that at minimum. Recruiters meeting there orientation quotas of the number of drivers showing up does not make the concept right. Many companies may approve drivers for orientation knowing in advance they don't have the equipment. As a prospective driver you would like to know and respect a company that are upfront on positions available, hiring requirements before they bring you into orientation. Many drivers quit
their jobs with hopes of going to a better outfit.(Green Grass Concept)
During these economic times companies that toy around with drivers to meet quotas need to be exposed. So if you inquire about a position with this carrier, you meet their hiring requirements,Alabama Coil Certified, and Twic cardholder, good mvr with good references. There is still a chance you may not get the job when they bus you to Natchez,MS.
Jordan Carriers use a practice of bringing in more drivers than they have trucks(A industry problem). As a process of elimination they use a computer questionnaire to see which driver fits they're company the best. The concept of having more than enough drivers on hand in case some one quit, flunk a drug test or is fired only protects the company.Don't become a weekly victim that make the bus ride to Natchez,Ms to return home no fault of your on. It will waste your time and disrupt your livlihood . I highly urge you not to quit your employer, take a leave of absence, vacation or have another job on standby when applying with this company. They don't mind wasting your time or spending round trip bus fare to send you back home. According to greyhound employees this is a weekly occurence. -
Jordan is really not all that bad of a company. I drove for them for over 3 years. They do give you the miles & pre plan the trucks 95% of the time.
BUT....
In the 3 years I was there I did witness a lot of changes. Changes that do verify what originally is posted here. They went from a laid back company to being strict babysitters. When I first started it wasn't uncommon to see a convoy of Jordan 379's running down the highway. Most of them loaded at the same place & would deliver at the same place. The driver's would help one another out & then they would run together down the highway. Towards the end.... You really couldn't get the driver's to barely talk to one another. Driver's began calling in on one another & getting each other in trouble. Why? I have no clue. I noticed it when they started hiring a lot of Boyd & Maverick drivers.
Jake would change the rules & expect you to automatically know they were changed. I also believe that there could be a lot of racial tension involved with the company.
If your looking for miles... Jordan would be a company to go to if you can put up with all the crap & rule changes. Me personally... I'm still employed with them. I took a leave of abstinence if April & I'm still on that leave. A week after my leave I got a letter saying that pay has been decreased 10%. I thought that was one hell of incentive for me to come back. I'm nearly ready to go back on the road & quite honestly I'm looking at other carriers. I can give Jordan a call & be in a truck just as soon as I get to Nachez... But right now, I just want to explore other options & avenues!Last edited by a moderator: Jun 29, 2009

Hi. I just wanted to write and inquire about a few things pertaining to your post. My husband has been employed at Jordan Carriers for almost 3 three and a half months. He has had a few minor issues. I wanted to kind see what he could possibly expect in the future? What kind of rules does old musty, stankin ### Jake change without notice? How is/was your dispatcher? How is the owner and his sons? Do they work there as well?
Thanks,

Title says it all. Beware! Driver mill alert. I worked there. Pretty bad. The drivers mean nothing to them. They pull dummies like me in with the "run Texas to North Carolina ads" that should read "run north to south short like hell".
truckdriverj Thanks this. -
I drive flatbed out of Alabama. I run across Jordan drivers all the time and I havent had any of them talk bad about them. I guess I havent ran across any of you former drivers. Also for you drivers looking for a company listening to a former MAD empoyee isnt the best way to go.
-
I could say listening to someone who got his info on a company second hand and did not actually work their is not a good way to go either. But I think the best way to go would be to listen to all, including current and former drivers before making a decision on whether they are bad or good.
PS I worked for a carrier for 6.5 years and did not think they where that bad until I went to another carrier. Then I realized after having something to compare them too that I had been working for a crummy carrier.
And you can read on these boards about dozens of drivers who discounted the posts of so-called "mad" drivers only to come back later and say they should of heeded the warnings. -
300% Turnover when I was there but it's been a while so it may have changed but they are still hauling the same freight and the other posters stories sound familiar so I doubt it. I had a great dispatchcer but never met her as the stairs were locked going up to dispatch. That is usually a good warning sign.
