CR England is a very disorganized company. My son-in-law (21) applied for the CDL school that CR England offered...(Free Tuition,) was told by a recruiter to pick up a bus to Salt Lake City. The address he was given was the wrong one, so by the time he got to the right place the bus had left. The recruiter never returned his messages, being it was Sunday! So, the next day, he talks with the recruiter, who tells him the scholarship offer is still available, and that he can take the next greyhoud bus which leaves on the weekend, (also a Sunday.) He gets to the bus station, and they tell him his ticket had expired the day before. So without hesitation, he purchases a ticket for $90.00 in order to report to class at 6 A.M. (Again, no recruiter returned his calls.) 13 hours later...my son-in-law arrives at the Salt Lake City bus station, and calls for thier shuttle to CR Englands hub, and there are 20 people sitting around, and no one in charge except a Security guard who knows nothing. After no success in talking with anyone to see what he was supposed to do, he is told to get a hotel. (that CR England would pay for.) He saw people getting into taxi's to go to thier hotels. He did not want to pay the $30.00 taxi cost, so he "walked" to the nearest motel (Hampton Inn)...2 hours away and $60.00 a night!
So frustrated, when he woke up after 3 hours of sleep, he "walked another 25 minutes to the bus station, bought a ticket home for $90.00. Total cost for NOTHING $230.00.
So, for anyone who is considering CR England...don't! If you do, make sure you have the following:
A confirmation from Greyhound that there is a viable bus ticket waiting for you to pick up.
Make sure you have the right bus station.
Make sure there is room at the dorm for you. If not get a comfirmation of the hotel they have for you,and how you will get there.
Don't leave on a weekend, no one will answer your calls!
Be prepared to WAIT.
Take some snacks with you.
Have more than 200.00 in cash. just in case something like this happens to you.
Score for CR England? FAIL.
BEWARE of CR England!

My husband had no troubles with any of the stuff your son in law did. They actually send an email with all of the information needed - what he will need - he was told to come with money - where the bus terminal is - how much he could bring on the bus - everything he needed for the training was listed . . . etc - he was given all of that information prior to leaving home and he just printed it out - went down the list - arrived fine - got into his dorm fine . . . so that wasn't a problem for him at all. The problem came AFTER all the training.
It is true what Spamalot mentions above - "You would be sent off for a drug test and a physical" - that is exactly what my husband had to do first before anything else. Then he is sent to their dorm . . . you only go to a hotel if they are cleaning the dorm rooms - and CR England does pay for that.
In your SIL's case - it sounds as if he just wasn't properly prepared himself since CR England does do a good job of at least getting you there and getting you through their training - however - he's better off working for another company anyway!Spamalot Thanks this. -
Although $230.00 for nothing seems expensive, and it is, .....
it pales in comparison to what could have been lost.
why did your son-in-law decide to go to C.R. England?
Were y'all unaware of C.R.E.'s less than stellar reputation?
Does your Son-in-law plan to continue seeking Big truck truck driver training? -
AfterShock Thanks this.

Of all these "stay away from insert mainstream carrier here" threads, why do people still decide to drive for them?

Yeah i'd hate to be the bearer of bad news however no matter who you work for out there, there will always be some issues obviously the best thing to do is resolve the issue with the company e.g. i had an issue with my company giving me "hot Loads" so i had 3 choices quit, go in and abuse the hell out of my supervisor or 3. reason with him, i chose the latter by simply asking him how he would feel if some driver was driving over his legal hrs and happened to fly off the road and injure 1 of his family would he think it was ok if the driver just said oh i was just doing a "hot load" for my boss, i never ever got a hot load again plus i still had good re pore with my supervisor.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Boy these companies sure must love it when people get hooked into the big con of "free" nothing is free in this big bad world of enterprise.
