Thanks for the answer.
I can (and most others too) how making money is why we work. When the family needs money, you need to make money. I guess England knows this too and prays on people they can.
I'm interested to hear how things work out, keep us posted.
BEWARE of CR England!

Even though you got a job I would deal with the dac report asap. Don't leave it you never know what might happen. Good luck with the new job.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
RizenPhoenix - at the time they didn't even know what was wrong with it . . . they couldn't even look at it and make a final diagnosis for a few days because they were backed up and they had other trucks ahead of his in the shop. Once they got the truck in the shop (in the order it was received) - they made the diagnosis and then put the batteries in

the C.R.E. Adventure and maintainin' his sanity.
Sometimes folks who should know better do somethin' they know better than to do after the Sons-0-Chester bombard a trainee's ability to follow a thought through to a logical conclusion. Then they move in the sales pitch crew who could sell porn to a nun, who proceed to reduce a trainee to a starry-eyed wannaBee Boss of his own, --- with hopes and dreams of bein' a Big truck truck driver.
That's the famous C.R.E. bait 'n switch routine they've been usin' for years.
What's amazing is, ........ that tactic still produces favorable results.
Same excuse, ........ no company Big trucks available.
"It could be weeks .............. ".
And y'all can bet it will.
Even then, some graduates actually still don't read the graffiti on the wall and realize what they were told ain't gonna materialize.
He did WHAT?!
Signed a C.R.E. LEASE?!
Because he has a "family at home to support"?!
GooD GrieF! :smt104
That's a good reason NOT to sign a C.R.E. lease. :smt075Say it ain't so!
You do realize that C.R. England is well known for havin' inexperienced trainers who don't really know what they're doin', ....... right?
Fleased drivers get in over their heads financially and arrange with the Sons-0-Chester to Rent a Trainee, --- and their log book, --- to keep the wheels a-turnin' to make the weekly Big truck BIG truck payment, --- after the Sons-0-Chester skim their take off the top.
It ain't about training.
It's about the money.
So, three hundred bucks to rent a trainee, --- and their log book, --- will allow the Own Boss to run ragged tryin' to make a dollar outta 99 cents, ............ at the expense of the trainee who's tearin' up the Own Boss's Big truck, Big time.
Repairs?
Go figure.
Time is money.
No time for time off.
If you're your own boss, you own the headaches associated with the title.
Nuthin' out of the ordinary though. That's the Big truck truckin' industry for ya.
Hurry up and wait, --- then wait some more, --- then hurry up.
It's business as usual for C.R.E..
What'ja 'spect?
And again I ask, ...... what'ja 'spect?
Reality can be such a drag.
The rest don't listen or read.
C.R. England's less than stellar reputation is well established, --- yet the revolvin' doors at C.R.E. have a mile-long line of starry-eyed wannaBees waitin' for their dose of the C.R.E. Adventure.
Why do y'all 'spose that is?
If it'll make you feel any better, C.R. England does NOT care about ANYone, ---- and they don't care about 'em equally.
C.R. England is a business. As such, the business is only interested in the bottom line,
aka: profits.
Big truck truck drivers at C.R.E. are merly an inconvienience that the powers that be have to contend with to reach that bottom line, and keep it outta the red ink.
Plenty more where they came from.
When was the last time y'all read a GOOD C.R.E. review?
Had he done "everything right", you wouldn't have found it necessary to write this excellent bad review.
Your complaint will just be added to thousands of other, identical, complaints registered over many years.
You might want to hold off sendin' your complaint in 'till you receive the statement from the Sons-0-Chester informin' you of the exact amount y'all still owe C.R.E.
They'll probably tack on an Abandonment of Equipment to your husband's DAC Report, --- just 'cause they can.
They've done that in the past.
OH!
And the repair(s) your husband had done to the Big leased Big truck?
The next wannaBee their own boss will appreciate it.

I hear ya loud and clear . . . we're a couple of dummies . . . thanks for spelling it all out for us! Having NEVER been in the trucking business - we didn't know what to expect . . . but we got it now - LOUD AND CLEAR there - that's a BIG 10-4!
*edit to add - BTW - after all I've heard and read - I've decided not to pursue this or file any complaints - it's obvious that nothing will ever change - it is what it is - and that's all there is to it . . . so I won't bother wasting anyone's time with it -
When you follow the money you usually find that the ultra wealthy stick together. CRE has to be in bed with government at one level of another. Until our entire value system changes and people realize that they have more personal power than they allow themselves to believe, companies like England will continue to thrive.
-
Other companies will consider him.
Schneider, Swift, Werner, Stevens, Prime to name a few.NavigatorWife and lbeck Thank this. -
I haven't heard anything good about any of those companies except Schneider (only heard good things) and Stevens (never heard of them). From what I've read and heard - Swift, and Werner are almost just as bad as CRE. You've been trucking for a long time - what have you heard about Schneider?
-
Schneider (Green Bay, WI) is good. Being you're from Prineville, there might be a problem getting you home.
Another you might check is May out of Salem. Just over the pass from you.
I've heard a lot of good things from people that went thru Prime (Springfield, MO)
Stevens (Dallas, TX) has an excellent training program. you don't have to lease. about 50% of their drivers are on the company side and ALL drivers have to start there. You have to qualifiy to lease. They run a reasonable amount of freight to Portland-Salem, so getting home shouldn't be an issue
Pay for the training companies is a little on the short side. Most start around 0.26 and end up around 0.30 or so by the end of the first year.lbeck Thanks this. -
May trucking is right across from one of the truck stops in Salem. Check out Knight Transpotation and Gordon Trucking GTi out of Washington state. He may have to train with Knight or Gordon but they're both fairly good companies, both are smaller than CRE/Swift and they pay more(Knight is sliding scale from 33 cpm to 41 cpm based on trip miles).
lbeck Thanks this.
