Let's just say the first thing those idiot's would do is threaten the driver with a write up. If your thinking about fl, liquid is the division with the most complaint's. If they put u in indiana sugar good luck you will get all the loads no one wants. The kid in dispatch plays the buddy system .The guy that manages plays the good guy ,but he's also a snake. He will ruin your d.a.c. report when you tell them goodbye. Do not work for foodliner unless you like 15.00 dollars per hour. That's about what you will be averaging

I am sure the guys that are at 30 years don't like hauling freight for the same rate they made starting out either. Might be time for a career change.

Seems like nowadays that any company you might work for your paycheck averages out to 15 hr. Sometimes its the company, sometimes its the economy. I don't understand companies like this, if you put a 2 week notice in, why must they ruin your DAC? I experienced it with Barr-Nunn, and probably made on average 12 an hour, but they ruined my DAC when I left.

I wish you luck on finding a company that will pay more than 15 hr average, but its gonna be hard.

That is funny! The last Foodliner load I pulled was Hammond IN to Merrimack NH. I pulled an empty trailer from IA to Chicago to drop off at a FL terminal. Then picked up the trailer I would use for the load itself(Trailer was in acceptable working order no danger of DOT issues). I then picked up the load of sorgum over in Hammond. Drove it 1,000 or so miles out to NH and met up with the other guy pulling the same load. Due to some misunderstanding we were told they would need both sets of our hoses so we rolled in together but he did have the first appt. Once in we learned that my hoses weren't needed but it was a loooooonnnnngggg unload. Took about four hours per truck. Since they did all the work I was logged out. We ate in a nice employee cafe and I watched some tube and caught up on reading. Was done about eight hours later and since FL told me to go in with the other guy I got paid for the time I was there. I left and began heading home. Drove around 500 miles or so the first day then on the second dropped my trailer back at the Foodliner yard and took another trailer back to IA to be reconditioned.

This is the norm for me whenever I touch a Foodliner load. Go out and deadhead home. The trailers they use at the local terminal are dedicated to them and can't have any other product in them. 99% of the loads I pull out of my Questliner terminal have no backhaul on them either. That is the whole reason I chose to work here, I was tired of waiting on someone to tell me where I was going next. Now its just unload , toss the hoses back into the tubes and head home.

Well MO Family Man: Like I said, maybe you have had a positive experience with FL, but I bet you will find more of us out here who have had more negative experiences with them than good. It may be terminal specific, and since you seem to run out of the home office terminal maybe that makes a difference. As for finding a trailer in good condition...that is more of an exception than the rule. You drop and hook a lot at FL and I found a hell of a lot of trailers that shouldnt be running down the road with 52k onboard than ones that I felt would pass a DOT inspection. Bring this up to FL management and you get laughed at or the standard BS, no one else has reported it. Good luck to you at FL, I hope they continue to treat you well. Safe travel.

That's crazy. My company would make me go home rather than pay the layover.

Told by the big man himself, stay put. Oh and by the way, there is no layover pay..if you are on guarantee and none if you are on mileage. Guess I would have been canned..not sure.

all i can say is why would you get to a customer with 1345 hours used, go on a 10 hour break and then continue to unload? that's illegal and no company can force you to do that. don't know the details of the load but sounds like poor planning either on dispatch or driver or both to arrive at customer just before you run out of hours unless it was planned that you take your break there. so if you had to unload when you got there, unload but stay on the clock. sure you may end up with 16 hours on duty for the day but then start your 10 hour break. long days suck i know, we've all had those but at least you were legal by doing it that way.
