A BCO is someone leased to Landstar and runs under landstar's authority. The truck will have Landstar on the side of it. An outside carrier is a company that has it's own authority pulling a brokered Landstar load.

Thanks for clarifying that.
I am new to the game. Originally wanted to get my own authority but was advised against it, and told to look into Landstar. So I have. But, if I could have my own authority and still pull for and therefore have some backing...sounds like the best of both worlds. I'm not saying Landstar is or is not the best, but that arrangement sounds like the best.

BTW, I would not be the driver, although I would love to !

There is no backing, you simply pull the load just like you would for any other broker.

2- The cost is 29.00 a month

4- You can only use this with your trailer hooked if you are NOT UNDER A LOAD..

5- In the event you are 60 miles from your home 20 and run out of hours,to bad.You have to take the 10 off..

6- When you are OFF DUTY AND HOME and you have to bring your truck in for work at a shop or home to clean,you have to go ON DUTY and use your drive time and be logged in...Even if its 3 miles away...

7- If you are 60 miles from your home and loaded,you can not use OFF DUTY DRIVING for that 60 minutes.You must drop trailer and then bobtail home,then come back and get trailer...

8- You are being tracked 24/7 365 days a year

I get the bigger point I really do,I just think there is an awful lot of needless worry and paranoia associated with the whole EOBR issue. I have been on elogs for almost twenty years and have always done far better than average. It takes a little time to get used to but after that learning curve most drivers actually end up thinking of it as another tool not an enemy that means them harm.

This is Landstar not Swift or one of the other .30 cpm rookie outfits where we need every single one of those seventy hours to scratch out a living. Most of us are successful here because we work smart not hard,we dont sit at docks for hours giving our money away. Guys should not be jumping ship here or anywhere else because they think they are are going to be operating under the control of big brother. Its going to be mandatory in the very near future and I just think its a big waste of time to get all worked up over it. Really I fear the FMCSA and the feds far more than the EOBR,at least with the EOBR I know Im always compliant.

He got banned OZR got banned, Do believe he will be with LS for a long time to come hes grumpy and old but don't see him leaving anytime soon.
Kind of a shame he got banned him and OZR had a bunch of knowledge and good input just to controversial and argumentive for TTR
