Yea well this management has gotten so greedy they don't care who hauls the freight anymore. Many of the old time drivers and agents have had enough and left and took their customers with them. Hiring standards have been lowered to 1 years experience OTR, not even as an owner operator. EOBR requirement. LS takes a 35% cut right off the top pulling a company van. More if you are platform and rent one of their trailers. Newer agents are content just to cut and paste off of other load boards instead of getting out and knocking on doors to build up direct business.......freight being double and triple brokered through freight fowarders who are also LS agents some even own their own trucks and LS now brokers out over 40% of their freight so what's left for the BCO's mostly all the garbage nobody else wants except when it gets busy which is rarely anymore.....in many shippers eyes LS is just an after thought any more, no longer the carrier of choice.

There are enough of us here that still run the old system and it works for us still, but it won't be long till most of us are gone or retired. Like a buddy of mine says.....the carriers you constantly hear advertising for drivers on the radio or in magxine adds are the ones to stay away from because the good ones don't have to advertise.

There is life after Landstar. I fought like hell and found it. Now i am getting ready to run on my own. Im tired of throwing $thousands$ to some1elses trucking company every year and putting up with thier petty bs.
Get out of your comfort zone and fight for what you want.

Fear is a failure disease and there really is nothing to fear but fear itself. Hard times and bs finally forced me into realizing that.

Let me know if you get the ball rolling and i will gladly help as much as i can

I was talking about LS and forcing the BCOs to get the eobr and the cost to have it plus a little extra in how you get treated after 8 yrs of service no tickets and a clean csa

Whats the problem you see with the EOBR? Its a box that sits on your dash,it does not possess artificial intelligence therefore it has to be told what to think. With the exception of what your ECM puts on line four you have full controll of that machine,I just dont get why so many people get their panties all bunched up when it comes to the EOBR. If a guy cant make a better than decent living at LS by driving eleven hours a day or less then there are other issues that need to be adressed. For God sake we pick our own freight,if you pick freight that burns anything other than time on line four your doing something wrong. Its really not rocket science or big brother or anything else but it is the future so guys can run for now but the end is very near.

I hate to say it but eight years of service and a clean CSA really kind of puts you at the back of the "I deserve more" line. No company owes any driver more than the compensation agreed to by both parties. If you dont want the EOBR and the costs it comes with and feel you can do better well get after it. If you cant be happy here your one of those that will most likely struggle anywhere you go.

I have 2 big issues with EOBRs
    1. I had big brother babysitting me for 20yrs of my life the last thing I want now as a civilian is big brother looking over my shoulder again!
    2. the COST! the unit and monthly monitoring fee is over the top at LS, ive spoken to buddies at other comp that are on elogs and they are paying between 5-10 dollars a month and have half the trucks we have.
Now with all that said yes I'm an old dog and if I don't keep up with the changes Ill get left behind, and yes I know its coming! But Ive been keeping a close eye on my hours and heck im lucky I burn 50 hours a week, but I don't like the idea of my day being monitored and having restrictions put on how I run my truck, if I want to take a long lunch and a nap its my choice, if I need that extra half hour to beat feet to my living room im going to. That's why I spent all this money on a truck and trailer and Im not a company driver
