I plan to. If I don't, we're gonna have to rename this thread: "Adventuress's Adventures At the DMV."

Hello Adventuress and Spectacle,
I have a couple of questions regarding the academy in Millington. First question do I have to pay anything when I get to school like a seating fee or any up front costs for schooling? Second question is will I be alright with my DOT physical? I took my DOT physical on Halloween of last year and I was certified for a two years. On Swift's website I noticed that if you receive your DOT physical from an outside source it cannot be older than 60 days from the time taken. Will this affect me in any way? -
You have to pay for licensing, they will let you know the first couple of days how much it is based on your state....figure anywhere from 75 - 200 depending on the licensing costs for your state. Other than that you have to buy your own food and whatnot. Housing is included in the contract.
As far as the med card, mine was a year old and I had no problems. Adventuress had hers done much more recently. I don't think you shouldn't have a problem. I didn't. -
Thanks man I guess I was just worrying over nothing. Lol

South Carolina dmv first test is free. Retakes are $25. It's $27.50 to get your plastic, so yes check your state.
No hidden costs so take enough money to eat and maybe wash clothes once. -
Thanks OceanDan,
How was your experience at the academy? Was it hard to pass, or was it somewhat easy to make it through the academy? I want this more than anything I have ever wanted in my life. This is a dream for me to on the open road enjoying myself, and the different sites each state has to offer. I'm just so nervous to get the ball rolling. -
I enjoyed Millington Academy. It wasn't hard. Realize the instructors are a wealth of knowledge. Pay attention, take notes, ask questions and be a sponge. You have the attitude. You'll be fine. Just understand the Academy and the next step, road training, is about getting you to pass at the DMV. It takes time to learn to be a driver. Don't get too anxious to arrive at the destination, remember to enjoy the journey

I started at Millington with absolutely zero experience/knowledge. I had never driven stick (other than an hour spent in a parking lot in Spectacle's Toyota). I had never pulled/backed a trailer. I couldn't parallel park my tiny little car with any level of confidence. I had no mechanical knowledge of parts. I managed to make it through Millington and test out without an AP week. No CDL yet, but I expect to remedy that on Thursday. I almost never stall the truck now (this is a big deal for me--tease if you must.) My shifting has improved immensely and I have managed some pretty tight turns without hitting anything.
If I can do it...so can you.
