Hey guys,
Sorry to take so long with the update, been running pretty hard solo.
My mentor is a cool guy, he's a lease op that really cares about his students getting what they need to be successful. He's given me some tips and pointers, but mostly he said I'm boring the #### out of him for my first 50 hours (which have to be me solo) because he doesn't have anything to do but sit and look out the window...haha. told him I could wiggle wagon it in the lane and ride the rumble strip if he wants some excitement!he wasn't interested
First three days out have been averaging 600 miles driving, first two were over 600, third (yesterday) was 550. Have about 8 backs to my credit. 6 were 90s.had a tight one in a truckstop the other day that my mentor wasn't sure I could hit, but I got it with one pull up. I think he trusts me now.
Sitting here in Arkansas after running the Ozark mountains yesterday before dark. It was gorgeous, but was my first time driving a rig in the mountains and I feel alot more comfortable on grades now! Spent an hour and a half in gridlock because of construction in Dallas the other day! Lol
Loads so far have been :
lithia springs, GA --> grand prairie, TX
Lancaster, TX ---> Kansas City, KS
Kansas city, MO ---> Searcey, AK.
We have a preplan for a load head for Charlotte, NC but it doesn't pick up until this afternoon. So I'm taking a break![]()

Adventuress, how did you make out on your re-test?

Yeah...my re-test was interesting. Something went wrong with the truck in the middle of my test. Barely got it off the road. Felt like the trailer brake was applied. Air pressure gauge was in range and yes, the knobs were released. Had to make an emergency stop on the side of the road. It had been raining for a couple of days so the ground was pretty...squishy. We ended up waiting 4 hours for a service truck to pull us out of the mud. Instructor couldn't recreate the problem. Test has been rescheduled--no penalty to me. I'm getting so frustrated. I'm ready to move on to the next stage...I feel like I keep screwing up.
On a positive note: I'll have an interesting story to share... in a few years...when I'm a little less frustrated/embarrassed. -
To make things worse--one of the other students on the truck had made some snarky comments to the instructor, that morning, about women's role/place in society. I was REALLY looking forward to showing him up! Grrr.
