Big cam 3’s used two different ones in their run. They still used the older later style SC Ntc 350 thru BC1&2 style and then later production 3’s got the newer style all steel ones to bridge over to the BC4 low flow style. So really anything but the BC4 should work. I know when Cummins would reman the old SC’s & BC’s and the coolers were bad they would install the later style 3 cooler on them. That was back in the day when they called them Magnums.

image000000.jpeg The older cooler housings that had both top and bottom, aluminum castings, use an exchanger with no flange around it. The housing with the aluminum lower casting and stamped upper housing, uses an exchanger with a flange.

The one for the big cam 4 looks 100 percent different from those. It looks kinda like the flat oil cooler in the 8.3 Cummins. I thought I had one on the shelf to get a pn but apparently not…
I am not certain on the flange no flange deal but I sure think I’ve seen the flange one in aluminum top coolers. I am pretty certain this one has a flange and it’s on a small cam with an aluminum top. IMG_2471.jpeg IMG_2473.jpeg IMG_2471.jpeg

Oil from the turbo leaking until it sucked a hole in the air filter and then a whole bunch of red dogs from corn. It was an auction buy…it didn’t run right but that was also because of the broken injector rocker.

Found one. They ain’t to cheap. Anyway, does anyone know what the boosted air temp is after leaving the turbo? Coolant in the exchanger is going to be ~190-205*. Just wondering how hot the air is prior to getting to the exchanger, for it to be effective?

    W923 and SmallPackage Thank this.
