I narrowed it down to these two companies I have hauled both before refer and dry van so i know each entails Im looking for anyone who drives for or has driven for these companies basic info how were they miles average legnth of haul pay treatment of drivers equipment EX. Guys i know Helwig was sold to Trans Am but he now owns it out right again not the same company as the one bought by trans so please stick to the thread just looking for good and bad info thanks drivers and be safe on your travels :)

Hellwig has been advertising on Craigslist around the Texas area for a while now, they wanted 2 years experience when I first started driving, the adds all say 1 year experience. Lowering the bar like that usually means they're hurting for drivers, hurting for drivers usually means they are losing drivers.

Take it for what it's worth.

I've been with Big G a little over 2 yrs now. It's a great company. Average miles is about 2500 per week, but that's with a full 48 hrs off on the weekends (I go home every weekend, but you can stay out if you want more miles). Drivers are treated well and well respected here. Dispatch, shop, breakdown, safety depts are all top notch. I would highly recommend working here. There's a couple other Big G drivers on this forum that will tell you the same thing.

I don't know if they hire out of MA though. Have you talked to a recruiter about that?

Yes 2500 is very consistent week to week. You'll probably do a little better if you stay out 10-12 like you said. I'd say it's about 50/50 drop and hook vs live. The trip planners work hard to keep you moving. Having to wait more than hour after getting empty for the next load is very very rare. Most times you will already be preplanned on the next one before getting empty. They will run you as hard as you want to run. The freight is there, believe me.

    tow614 and Bettsexpress Thank this.
