Bought my own fridge. $99 at walmart
-
do you now anything about this company
-

$99 for a fridge, are you sure it's not just a cooler? At that price you usually only get something that cools to 40 degrees below ambient temps.
Real fridges usually run around $220-280 -
Going to try and raise this from the dead. Does anyone have any useful information on this company out of Shelbyville, TN? Thanks for your input oldnewbiegonnabe. Yours was the only answer related to the thread.

"Big G Express" used to be Goggin, however someone on here said Goggin and Big G are 2 different companies. But, both are out of Shelbyville and have the same color schematics and equipment. Can't help you any further. They do some west coast hauls.

As a former employee of Big G Express it's a not a good situation. I have nothing against the company as a whole but the new regulations that are coming down the line made things difficult.
When I first started with Big G in 2009, I along with most drivers used the "creative logging " method on logs. I started out with a four day week on my first week with a paycheck of over $500. The rest up to about a couple of months was either a 4 digit or close to it weekly check.
Several things was building up on the job that was getting to me. All of the sudden they starting to audit logs with the GPS system on the trucks. So the every weekend became (if you're lucky) to every two weeks with a couple of hours # home. Now to sum it up when I quit was I was # the end of my 14 hr rule, and dispatch wanted to me run at least another 6 hours, after I told them the fact that I was out hours. Seem like dispatch was pulling you at one end and the safety department at the other. As I was driving back to the yard to do the run, it was saturday, nice warm weather, I seen people enjoying the weekend and that was the straw that broke the camels back. I pulled in, qualcomm them that I am cleaning out the truck and quitting.
And get this, they called me that they hate to see me go. But can I run the run anyways.
Big G is a small company competing against the big dogs. The problem really boils down to the shippers and consignees. When you have to wait anywhere from 2 to 8 hours to get loaded or unloaded, you will not make much money or see any hometime.
Now this will not be just with Big G, but it will be with any given company unless you have a local or dedicated route. Since I quit, had a job offer as far as the trucking field goes. I am debating to go for it. For right now, I am enjoying the time off.
Well Mike, I hope that I gave you some good info. Good luck. -
So Ten Ken, are Big 'G' and Goggin 2 separate companies or what?
-
Big G and Goggin are two different companies with no affiliation. Goggin runs daycabs locally. Their main business is warehousing and distribution. They havent run out west in years in fact that was the original Goggin doing that with otr trucks. They were bought out or broken up years ago. It's a long story and I'm a little murky on some of the details. This current Goggin is owned by the same man who owns/manages Titan Transfer. Titan is one of several otr outfits based out of Shelbyville. The owner of Titan/Goggin is a bigshot in the ATA who's always in Washington pushing for black boxes, mandatory 65 mph speed limiters on all trucks and those sorts of issues. I can't remember his name offhand but google could surely help out with that.
