Saw this parked outside our yard this morning. After a short interview it was determined he is a retired lowbed driver that sold his trucks to take on a life of leisure and the RV life. IMG_0760.JPG

I only had time and only thought about it once to get a photo of this bridge beam. This baby was 102 feet long and weighed just shy of 140k. Grossing somewhere in the neighborhood of 200k with the jeep and dolly. I was 149 feet, bumper to bumper. Oh and I hate traffic lights, especially when they turn yellow and the trailer turns right. What a pain that is. Anywho... here is the photo.

Well, back to normal kinda today with the exception that this thing went up to a mine and the trailer tires went off the bank on one turn. All you can do when that happens is close your eyes and hit the throttle... LOL Told him to cancel the grader because I leveled off all the high spots... Hint, don't take the trailer with the 28' deck into the woods.

Man I haven't seen let alone hauled a 225 for years wow. The company I used to work for had 225's, 235's, and 245's. They are kinda primitive by today's standards but they are work horses. They say on that style of Cat if you step on both travel pedals it gives you more power. If you tell that story around most operators to day they'll say something like "won't that just make it move" you know then they've never ran one of these machines.

4020, when I first started hauling equip., the only excavators in the area were a 225 & a Hein-Werner. As you know, the 225,235,245 had a forward pedal & a reverse pedal and a single stick that did the steering. I have hauled all of these but most were 235s. Never tried stepping on both pedals at once though. Most of the ones I hauled were so worn that you never did anything out of the ordinary lest ye get a "surprise" lol The Hein Werner was fun, when you got it parked on the trailer it still had a tendency to roll so proper chaining was important.
