It is the shear portion of a 750t industrial baler. Not heavy, maybe 85-90k going to Carson, CA

If you see it person it doesn't. It just a crappy picture, taken after 6 hours in the dirt and sun.

Why, if you know you can't get out of a place but the customer asks you to try, why would you order the permit ahead of time?

Sorry I'm not trying to piss you off about money you lost, I just want to understand trip planning cuz I never have to plan but would rather learn on someone else's dime

For some states, permits are not instantly issued - especially at my size/weight. So, in order to be able to load and start moving from the jobsite, one orders at least the first state and potentially any states that are going to take many days like GA superload or Kansas Superload each take 3 days minimum.

So in this case, Texas dot reviews all my permit requests I place on their automated system Txpros. This normally takes a few hours, so given that, I order my TX permit first before I go load.

Also, there is usually very little surprise in size and weight for a specific model machine. So not much risk and I had spoken to the customer the day before so I knew the machine was there and ready to go.

I am not a heavy oversized hauler but would you had been able to drop your jeep and dolly somewhere, load the machine on trailer and then reconnect everything?? This way you wouldn't have lost out on the load... I don't know the area or what it looked like so maybe it was impossible.. Or possibly any option, would you have not been away to set-up on the street and bring the machine out without damage to the road, sidewalk and whatever else... Maybe even using wood or rubber mats for the tracks to roll on...??

Yo answer your question, no it was not possible. I had not even unstacked the jeep or put down my flip neck extension - that would have only increased the space required to get out. As far the booster it requires a large forklift or crane to attach or detach from the trailer.

    And the customer would
Not agree to loading on the one way frontage rd. It is also generally not legal to do this on the public right away in any case.

The customer insisted that I should back around a corner back into the frontage road by pinning the booster and forcing it around the corner with just shy of 200k lbs.

Since the customer did not want to agree to repair the trailer at their cost or pay for the heavy wreckers and cranes that would be required if I broke the pin on the booster, we were at an stalemate.

since it is my trailer and not just some "company" trailer, any damage done has a two fold impact - repairs and down time.

So Inmade the call that losing A relatively small amount was preferable to losing a very large amount.
