Don't get into doing repos, lots of permits not used (load & GO!) & machines that were brought in with a day-cab & trailer that's too small. I walked away from one in metro-Portland, I could have done it but when I saw where it actually was (dead end street, long back off a major arterial) and I'd have to track a muddy machine 1 block on new asphalt to get where I could load told the agent "not me, find someone else". They got a guy that came in at night, loaded (over 10'...at night, metro area), and hauled ###- like I said, not me. "We have trucks that do this every day". Good for you, call 'em. (sorry to pull that scab off, Ron)
"I got 3 flats, broke the trailer, a $14,000 bill from the City.....should have just drove away, what was I thinking?"

I understand you on paying for your own repairs.. Although I am a company driver I treat the equipment like it was my own. I hate drivers (especially my co-workers) that treat equipment badly just because they don't own it.. It shows disrespect to the company, the equipment and to your own personal professionalism. Plus I have to use the equipment everyday (same truck and trailer everyday) so I don't want to be using broken crap. Heck as a company driver I even do my own minor repairs, providing my own tools and bringing stuff from home to do work... Although I am not paid to provide this stuff from home I'd rather do my own repairs then our fleet department as it's done quicker (no need to send into shop and wait for slow mechanics) and also done to my liking. -
I am with you Gov't
But that is what the customer and broker wanted... And they must have found someone willing

For the record, I was the one who kinda talked him into trying to get out with the booster down when mty. I said give it a trial run to see if he could make the turn mty and short necking...
Some times it works and sometimes it doesn't..
I feel his loss on time and money spent...Oxbow Thanks this. -
Not you Carl, I am a big boy and did it on my own, with assurances from the customer and broker that they would me stack to get out if it didn't work.
But you know how that turned out - customer disappeared like roaches when the lights come onOxbow Thanks this. -
I know Ron, But I kinda felt bad after the deal went south for you..
So I wanted to admit, I was the one who suggested you try that..
My week is kinda like your week with the front end needing replaced and the cost over run on the job.. Plus hotel rental car etc..
The wife is bummed now as I was going to buy her a plane ticket to go home for a bit.. she is really home sick, So with work slow I said ok, Let's fly you home for your birthday and the Thailand New Year..
Well that went south last night, with the extra money for trk. repair -
Last load before I swapped companies.

Vertical Turret Lathe I moved out of Bulverde, TX today. The only bad part about it was figuring out tie down points. Well that & the fact that it was down a goat trail that wasn't designed for big goats to get in & out of.
It was at an airplane engine shop, the 93 year old owner auctioned off all his machining equipment & $30-million worth of C-130 engine parts. Never would have guessed such a sophisticated operation would be located where it was.
