I used to as well, couldn't run them in CA myself because of their stupid deal with lift axles.

    johndeere4020 Thanks this.

The last 336 I moved came out to 90k on the nose. Depending on the trailer, I can go to like 60k on a tridem but then I do need a pilot car so it is much cheaper for us to put more axles on the ground since we already have the trailers.

    johndeere4020 and passingthru69 Thank this.

    Well Jason,

There were a number of reasons - the set up was goofy, 10 axles.

A non Cali legal 4 axle tractor and no multi axle axle inspection report.

    A close coupled 2 axle
Jeep needed at least 12' to get a weight for the jeep separate

A 3 axle trailer with a pin on 4th axle

So neither CA or AZ will give you weight for a 4 axle group,
So the 4 axle trailer acted like a 3 axle and for Arizona because the combination was over 140k - class C trid bonus - so with 8 wide axles the limit is 51.6k or 8 6 wide 53.6k

my best guess is he would have been limited with a min heavy steer to like 12 + 53 + 53 in AZ - or more likely not a permitable combination.

And yes JD, I know back where you are you guys can haul 390s on 5 axle set ups.out here in the southwest, if you are going to haul north of 85k across AZ and into CA it most likely going to be 9 axle or 16 tire set ups.

It always amazes me at what you guys out west have to go through to move machines in the 70-85K range, back here in PA, WV we run 350, 336, 360's all day long on 6 axles. Happy truckings

It is so far forward because that is a 2 axle trailer. And I had to take it across the dam so that I could turn around. Nobody was getting across while I was on the dam.
