    Moved a JD 350 excavator first thing this morning and I got the same comment at both the pickup and delivery locations.... "Man that's a lot of chains!" and my reply was it's a 90k pound machine.

    Then I was told to move a loader. When I got there the guy said they were going to double up on me... Here is what they wanted me to haul, the loader and a mechanics truck..

    I told him they would be too heavy for the 3 axle trailer so he called the boss who called me. So to prove that I was right I put every thing on the scale. Truck and trailer 47,500. Loader 34,000. Mechanics truck 23,000. I don't know where they went to school at but to me that added up to 104,500 pounds and I could only go 98k gross.

    Called them both back and told them I was going to be 6k over gross and to decide which one they wanted me to take. I ended up taking the mechanics truck. Would have been a tight fit too with the truck up on the rear bolsters and the bucket having to be up on the neck. But that would have been the only way to get 36' of machinery on a 28' deck.

    You could have done what @Rontonio does, just call the scales & tell them you dont HAVE to stop at their scale.

    Just think, 1 more week until the Mac starts to fire back up. Then you'll have a month's worth of backlogged loads to get up there.

    @cnsper

    The biggest problem I have is getting people, customers as well as dispatch, to understand that even though I have more axles, I still have a maximum weight I can haul.

    That & they don't understand the whole divisible, undivisible load thing.

    Just wanna say, I enjoy this thread, and respect the He!! outta you guys. Been driving almost 20 years, and only do the OS/OD precast stuff in the winter, as asphalt doesn't much move. Kudos to y'all that run it in your veins, you are truly a special breed. @cnsper the wife enjoys your pix elsewhere, as well.
    Thanks for sharing, Be safe.
